KFC (Kids for Christ)

Aim: To create a fun exciting place of discipleship for grade 1-7
When: During Sunday morning service 9:00am
Who: Ziggie Smit and team of teachers

"Kids for Christ" had a very busy, yet disruptive second term. We tried to embrace the spirit of the World Cup Soccer and hoped to create and awareness of needs in our country and world over. We organised a "World Cup Soccer Focus Sunday" in the adjacent hall. There were a variety of stands ranging from food samples from various countries, to take home prayer bookmarks, to various mission displays and kids' activities and face painting. A HUGE thank you to all who worked tirelessly to make the day one of blessing, encouragement and fun.

This, the third term will be one where we focus on the theme of "Giving" and "Living on the Edge". We will be collecting money for Children's Bibles to be distributed by Open Door Ministries.

We are very, very sad to say goodbye to Kerryn Currie who has been one of our teachers for 4 years. Kerryn has worked hard, been creative and caring. We will miss her and the love she has shown to each and every young person at KFC. We at KFC are all very excited about the imminent arrival of their first baby. We look forward to the day when the little Currie joins our Children's Church. Bless you Kerryn!

In that light we thank Vangile and Chloe, our interns from J life who are so enthusiastic and capable as they faithfully help us on Sunday mornings.

Needs: While teachers are always needed, there will also be a need for someone to oversee our KFC ministry. Ziggie has pioneered this ministry for 4 years and will be taking a sabbatical at the end of this year. To this end we will need some one to take on the role of overseeing the team that Ziggie has built up along with the giving guidance and direction to this ministry.

Children's Church registration
Some of the new introductions to this ministry has been a 'registration' ministry. The aim of which is to be a 'first port of call' for parents and Kidz. New Kids are welcomed, Kids are shown to the different groups, and parents feel that their kids are in a safe, overseen, place. This is run by Goose Smallfield.

Aim: To provide a safe environment during our morning service, for parents to leave their Kidz, and give us an opportunity to grow their Kids spiritually.
When: Sunday mornings 9:00
Who: Chanette Farquhar

There are two rooms that have been dedicated to this ministry i.e. the current cry room and the room opposite it. The cry room is for mothers with babies and very small toddlers. We have included a separate baby changing station with wet wipes etc in the wheel chair friendly toilet for parents that need to change or breastfeed their babies.
The older toddlers up to grade 0 spend their time with Chanette who has developed her own curriculum for these ages. From crafts to bible lessons to music, Chanette has faithfully taken on this challenge. They currently meet in the small room opposite the cry room.

Stats: The number of children varies from 3 to 12 children
Needs: There is a need to separate the Grade 0 from the younger kids, as well as have someone take on the mom's with babies' ministry. Chanette faces challenges of a small classroom as well as the need for people to help her facilitate her class.
