"Kidszone"

Aim: To create a safe fun environment where grade 1-3 can be reached with the gospel
When: Fridays 18:00-19:00
Who: Originally run by Rose Oosthuyzen for the first term of 2010, but is currently run by Anita and Richard Strauss.

The grade 1-3 group is a new addition to ministry here at KBC. Originally we only catered for the grade 4-7 on a Friday night however there grew a need for to start a Grade 1-3. This need grew out of the fact that in a two child family the one could go to youth and the other would be left at home. Pioneered by Rose Oosthuyzen, this ministry has been taken over my Richard and Anita Strauss for the past two terms. The growth in numbers has been greatly encouraging as they use the influence they have in the circles they are in.

"July 2010
Dear Parents

Our youngest son, Matthew, turned eight this year, and so we have started leading a youth group for Junior Primary children, called Kidzone. For us this is "round two" as we were involved with youth groups for eight years while our oldest son, Michael, was growing up. He is now 24 and getting married next month! Amazing how time flies! We are passionate about providing children with an opportunity to have good clean fun, while discovering God in a meaningful way.

We meet on Friday nights during the term, for an hour between 6pm and 7pm at KBC. The venue is safe, and your children will be well looked after. The programme is very simple. About 40 minutes of games and fun, a juice and biscuits break, and 15 minutes of story time, with a moral/Christian bias. You are welcome to stay for the first time, to reassure yourself that your child is in good hands.

Kind regards
Richard and Anita Strauss

Aim: To create a fun evening that reaches unchurched grade 4-7.
When: Friday nights 18:00-19:00
Who: Originally run by Barry Oosthuyzen for the first term of 2010, but currently run by Jason, Cloe and Vangile

Last year this group grew to a size of 60-70 kids made up largely of grade 7's. With this group moving to Grade 8 at the beginning of 2010, the numbers have decreased due to the lack of Grade 6's from last year. Currently our strategy has been to use our influence at Kloof Senior Primary to draw a new group to this ministry. But more information on that can be found under the 'Chaos' report.

Stats: Currently we have 6-10 kids
Needs: From our holiday club we have two new leaders in this ministry, Alec and Keegan from Johannesburg, however our need is not necessarily leadership but more a need to draw more Kidz.
